MOTHER AS A TEACHER

In India we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as Teachers’ day every year. It’s a coincidence this year we celebrate ‘Vinayaka Chaturthi’ too today across India. Lord Vinayaka/Ganapati is the god of Buddhi (wisdom), Riddhi(prosperity) and Siddhi(attainment) according to Indian mythology.

On this Teacher’s day, a very nice thought came to my mind. Who is our first teacher? I think it’s our mother.

It feels very satisfying when a mother says I will learn again with my kid as I forgot few basics. What does it mean? I think it’s a very positive approach towards life. I came to learn this during an interaction earlier. It can reignite the passion in you and motivate your kid as well. This is an win-win situation for all in society when both can act as teacher and student for one another.

Do you have a second opinion?
You think and I am thinking about it to write more.

Let me share here few quotations in memory of our teachers.

Finally, something from my very own thoughts …

“Our mother is our best teacher as long as we visualize, respect and learn from her as our teacher”

Happy Teachers’ Day to all !

  1. Reblogged this on CRAIN’S COMMENTS and commented:
My only point of slight disagreement is that parents are teachers, or they are supposed to be. The mess in the US is due in part to an abdication of parenting and the politicization of education. Immigrants often know more about US politics and history than those who were born here.

    1. I agree with you.
They are supposed to be. If this happens in large scale, we will witness revolutionary change in the growth and value system of children in their formative years. Unfortunately we concentrate more on degrees for which parents used to rely on external teaching methods of education. I believe internal grooming and home schooling is equally important in the early days.

Thank you for sharing your views.
