YOU ARE THAT

GITA WISDOM # 38

सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत।
श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः॥

Every human being is possessed of a pattern of behavior (shradha) as per his mindset. This determines his role. He eventually embodies that approach as dictated by his shradha. (17.3)

हे भारत! सभी मनुष्यों की श्रद्धा उनके अन्तःकरण के अनुरूप होती है। यह पुरुष श्रद्धामय है, इसलिए जो पुरुष जैसी श्रद्धावाला है, वह स्वयं भी वही है
॥3॥

VIEWING COMPETITIVE STRENGTH

GITA WISDOM # 37

योत्स्यमानानवेक्षेऽहं य एतेऽत्र समागताः।
धार्तराष्ट्रस्य दुर्बुद्धेर्युद्धे प्रियचिकीर्षवः॥

An executive has to conduct a field study of the market, before making decisions. That is exemplified by Arjuna’s action, when he asked Krishna to station his chariot in between the two armies, so that he can assess the strength of his opponents. (1.23)

दुर्बुद्धि दुर्योधन का युद्ध में हित चाहने वाले जो-जो ये राजा लोग इस सेना में आए हैं, इन युद्ध करने वालों को मैं देखूँगा
॥23॥

MOTIVATION

GITA WISDOM # 36

(दोनों सेनाओं की शंख-ध्वनि का कथन)


तस्य सञ्जनयन्हर्षं कुरुवृद्धः पितामहः।
सिंहनादं विनद्योच्चैः शंख दध्मो प्रतापवान्‌॥

Senior heads of organizations should inspire the younger managers at times of pressures. Accordingly, Bhisma, observing the worried countenance of the king, blows his conch aloud, to invoke confidence in the mind of Duryodhana and to motivate him for the mighty battles ahead. (1.12)

कौरवों में वृद्ध बड़े प्रतापी पितामह भीष्म ने उस दुर्योधन के हृदय में हर्ष उत्पन्न करते हुए उच्च स्वर से सिंह की दहाड़ के समान गरजकर शंख बजाया
॥12॥

DEDICATED WORKFORCE

GITA WISDOM # 35

अन्ये च बहवः शूरा मदर्थे त्यक्तजीविताः।
नानाशस्त्रप्रहरणाः सर्वे युद्धविशारदाः॥

A committed workforce leads to success in all endeavours. Aware of this, the king Duryodhana proudly announces that his army consists of well equipped warriors, adept in the tricks of the battlefield who are even willing to lay down their very lives for his sake. (1.9)

और भी मेरे लिए जीवन की आशा त्याग देने वाले बहुत-से शूरवीर अनेक प्रकार के शस्त्रास्त्रों से सुसज्जित और सब-के-सब युद्ध में चतुर हैं ॥9॥

DETACHMENT

GITA WISDOM # 33

असक्तिरनभिष्वङ्‍ग: पुत्रदारगृहादिषु।
नित्यं च समचित्तत्वमिष्टानिष्टोपपत्तिषु॥

Withdrawing from desire for possessions and family bondages, a manager with steadfast mind towards the worldly happenings (pleasant & unpleasant), shall endeavour for supreme knowledge. (13.9)

पुत्र, स्त्री, घर और धन आदि में आसक्ति का अभाव, ममता का न होना तथा प्रिय और अप्रिय की प्राप्ति में सदा ही चित्त का सम रहना
॥9॥

THE FIELD AND IT’S KNOWER

GITA WISDOM # 32

क्षेत्रक्षेत्रज्ञयोरेवमन्तरं ज्ञानचक्षुषा ।
भूतप्रकृतिमोक्षं च ये विदुर्यान्ति ते परम्‌॥

An executive shall know the subtle difference between the field and its knower. One is a physical factor and the other, an intrinsic knowledge of the physical forces. By virtue of his deeper consciousness, he should also be aware of the flow of actions arising out of human nature. (13.34)

इस प्रकार क्षेत्र और क्षेत्रज्ञ के भेद को (क्षेत्र को जड़, विकारी, क्षणिक और नाशवान तथा क्षेत्रज्ञ को नित्य, चेतन, अविकारी और अविनाशी जानना ही ‘उनके भेद को जानना’ है) तथा कार्य सहित प्रकृति से मुक्त होने को जो पुरुष ज्ञान नेत्रों द्वारा तत्व से जानते हैं, वे महात्माजन परम ब्रह्म परमात्मा को प्राप्त होते हैं
॥34॥

ROLE OF THE EXECUTIVE

GITA WISDOM # 31


उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्‌।
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः॥

( आत्म-उद्धार के लिए प्रेरणा और भगवत्प्राप्त पुरुष के लक्षण )

The chief executive shall endeavour to elevate himself by his deeds and shall not demote him from his exalted state. One is one’s own friend and one is one’s own enemy. (6.5)

अपने द्वारा अपना संसार-समुद्र से उद्धार करे और अपने को अधोगति में न डाले क्योंकि यह मनुष्य आप ही तो अपना मित्र है और आप ही अपना शत्रु है
॥5॥

The chief executive shall endeavour to elevate himself by his deeds and shall not demote him from his exalted state. One is one’s own friend and one is one’s own enemy. (6.5)

ATTITUDE OF A LEADER

GITA WISDOM # 30

विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि।
शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः॥

The realized souls are disposed equally to the learned and noble souls, to the higher creations as well as to the lowest level of created beings. (5.18)

वे ज्ञानीजन विद्या और विनययुक्त ब्राह्मण में तथा गौ, हाथी, कुत्ते और चाण्डाल में भी समदर्शी (इसका विस्तार गीता अध्याय 6 श्लोक 32 की टिप्पणी में देखना चाहिए।) ही होते हैं
॥18॥

ROLE OF SMALL ENDEAVORS (KAIZEN)

GITA WISDOM #29

यनेहाभिक्रमनाशोऽस्ति प्रत्यवातो न विद्यते।
स्वल्पमप्यस्य धर्मस्य त्रायते महतो भयात्‌॥

In the world of action, even minor or relatively small endeavours, can protect one from mighty calamities or losses. (This is considered in today’s world as a Japanese concept called ‘Kaizen’). [2.40]

इस कर्मयोग में आरंभ का अर्थात बीज का नाश नहीं है और उलटा फलरूप दोष भी नहीं है, बल्कि इस कर्मयोग रूप धर्म का थोड़ा-सा भी साधन जन्म-मृत्यु रूप महान भय से रक्षा कर लेता है
॥40॥

THE CORPORATE SOUL

GITA WISDOM #28

अच्छेद्योऽयमदाह्योऽयमक्लेद्योऽशोष्य एव च।
नित्यः सर्वगतः स्थाणुरचलोऽयं सनातनः॥

(Like the soul), the corporate shall remain unaffected and motionless, even when external forces try to push it down. It’s systems shall move so easily and seemingly without efforts that the casual outsider may not even be cognizant of the efforts going within it. (2.24)

क्योंकि यह आत्मा अच्छेद्य है, यह आत्मा अदाह्य, अक्लेद्य और निःसंदेह अशोष्य है तथा यह आत्मा नित्य, सर्वव्यापी, अचल, स्थिर रहने वाला और सनातन है
॥24॥
