Waiting for you became a ritual.

Endlessly searching the shoreline for your footprints. Are they washed away in the pounding rain?
The  taste of sea salt remains upon my lips where you left it.

Rolling waves break with the sound of your voice and seabirds carry your memory beneath feathered wings where I have pressed them, sheltered like precious gems.

Near daybreak the tide  retreats without leaving you at my shore and it is there I accept loss. I have etched your name at the hollow of my throat  somehow declaring us sacred.
