Go and stand in front of a mirror right now and tell yourself that you will love yourself unconditionally no matter what.
This is my decision to unconditionally love myself. I adore both the woman I have become and the girl I used to be. In the end, there is actually nothing wrong with me. To some extent, all the negativity, bullying, lost friendships, hatred, and judgement had nothing to do with me, but nobody was to blame. I can now see that. I felt like I was missing something, and the experience broke me. I wasn’t strong enough to stand up for myself, whether it was because of how I witnessed my mother’s upbringing or a lack of confidence. I was unaware that being who I am is OK. The majority of the time now, I see a brighter version of myself. The way I am is amazing. After all, I am lovely.
I am aware that I am no longer required to defend myself to anybody who will pretend to listen. I am aware that I don’t need to inform others of my anxiety and despair in the hopes that they would be understanding. No, I don’t have to tell you why I act the way I do. I don’t have to be too pleasant or kind to you. I owe you nothing. However, I do have a responsibility to provide for myself on a daily basis with a secure and loving home within my flesh. Even when others don’t give it to me especially when they don’t I do owe myself love, gratitude, and respect. I’ve learned how to comfort myself, so I don’t need somebody to save me or make me feel better. I am happy to be here. Of course, it’s wonderful to be surrounded by good people who accept me. It’s simple to miss people that do notice you and love you for it when you don’t love yourself or know who you are at your heart.
Remember, the most comfortable option isn’t usually the best option for you. Sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone. Sometimes you have to take a chance on yourself, even if it’s terrifying and uncomfortable. Yes, you could lose something lovely by taking the riskier option, but you could also get something fantastic.
