HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!

Thanksgiving is a federal holiday in the United States, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is sometimes called American Thanksgiving (outside the United States) to distinguish it from the Canadian holiday of the same name.

It originated as a harvest festival, and the centerpiece of Thanksgiving celebrations remains Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner traditionally consists of foods and dishes indigenous to the Americas, namely turkey, potatoes (usually mashed), stuffing, squash, corn (maize), green beans, cranberries (typically in sauce form), and pumpkin pie.

In American culture Thanksgiving is regarded as the beginning of the fall–winter holiday season, which includes Christmas and the New Year.

JUST BRILLIANT

Just brilliant…

  1. If your child lies to you often, it is because you over-react too harshly to their inappropriate behaviour.
  2. If your child is not taught to confide in you about their mistakes, you’ve lost them.
  3. If your child had poor self-esteem, it is because you advice them more than you encourage them.
  4. If your child does not stand up for themselves, it is because from a young age you have disciplined them regularly in public.
  5. If your child takes things that do not belong to them, it is because when you buy them things, you don’t let them chose what they want.
  6. If your child is cowardly, it is because you help them too quickly.
  7. If your child does not respect other people’s feelings, it is because instead of speaking to your child, you order and command them.
  8. If your child is too quick to anger, it is because…

The Government of India declared 26 November as Constitution Day on 19 November 2015 by a gazette notification. The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi made the declaration on 11 October 2015 while laying the foundation stone of the B. R. Ambedkar’s Statue of Equality memorial in Mumbai.

The year of 2015 was the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar, who had chaired the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly and played a pivotal role in the drafting of the constitution. Previously this day was celebrated as Law Day. 26 November was chosen to spread the importance of the constitution and to spread thoughts and ideas of Ambedkar.

An executive has to conduct a field study of the market, before making decisions. That is exemplified by Arjuna’s action, when he asked Krishna to station his chariot in between the two armies, so that he can assess the strength of his opponents. (1.23)

NATIONAL MILK DAY 🇮🇳

National Milk Day (India) : 26 November

Verghese Kurien (26 November 1921 – 9 September 2012), known as the “Father of the White Revolution” in India, was a social entrepreneur whose “billion-litre idea”, Operation Flood, made dairy farming India’s largest self-sustaining industry and the largest rural employment sector providing a third of all rural income. It made India the world’s largest milk producer, doubled the milk available for each person, and increased milk output four-fold in 30 years.

He pioneered the Anand model of dairy cooperatives and replicated it nationwide, based on various “top-down” and “bottom-up” approaches, where no milk from a farmer was refused and 70–80% of the price by consumers was paid in cash to dairy farmers who controlled the marketing, procurement, and processing of milk and milk products as the dairy’s owners. An invention at Amul was the production of milk powder from buffalo milk instead of from cow milk, which was in short supply in India.

He also made India self-sufficient in edible oils and fought against the “oil kings”, who used underhanded and violent methods to enforce their dominance over the oilseed industry.

THE LIGHTHOUSE

House of Heart's avatar

I am a lone bird wheeling jagged edges

of ancient cliffs above the shallows

of a rough Dover sea.

My feathers gleam in the beam of

the lighthouse where gentle swells

pulse against rocky shores

where in dreams you held me tenderly like

treasured pearls.

I have abandoned the lighthouse

that seems to lean closer to the sea

waiting in vain at the tide swept shore.

The beam has ceased its search

still each time I pass I  tip my  wing.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY ~ 11

ARE WE HUMAN UNDERNEATH? V.2

Benie Langat's avatarBenie Writes

No creature smiles as much as a human,
Equipped with all the muscles for it;
We don’t waste them, few humans do—
Humans smile at anything, anything…

You could feel dark as night within,
But a human walks up to you, smiles…
You spread sunshine from the pits in you;
Most are fake, but does it ever matter?

We journey our lives with bags on our backs;
Packed with hate, jealousy, ambition, and worse,
We feel ready to face anything—bring it on!
Face anyone, anywhere; are we not humans?

Well, where did humanity go?
Did we forget her somewhere? Left her?
Did we ever have her? Was she an illusion?
A possibility for what is now impossible?

We slung more bags, on our backs,
Loaded with love, copies of them;
Plenty of distributions to make—
Things of free should be enjoyed!

“Do you feel different? Look different?
A path for…
